Dubai – Mubasher: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE's vice president, prime minister, and ruler of Dubai, has revealed that Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (Som) would be the designer of Dubai's Burj Jumeira.
The New York-headquartered design house will be delivering architectural and structural services for the 550-metre "aerodynamic" tower.
Som, the designer of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which is also located in Dubai, said that upon completion, the new tower would be among the world’s tallest buildings.
The tower will house entertainment options and be able to host fireworks displays.
The designing company pointed out that Sheikh Mohammed has “left his fingerprint on the project.”
Moreover, the tower's upper floors will feature dining options, “active programming” systems, and multiple observation decks.
Som commented that adding that the spherical observation deck to Burj Jumeira draws inspiration from the native gulf pearl.
Located in the Al Sufouh district of Dubai, the development will be close to Dubai Holding’s iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, the investment holding company owned by Al Maktoum.
